Valentine's Day FUN

Whew...I don't know about you but I'm sure glad Valentine's Day is OVER! I love how excited my lions get but golly it wears me out! I came straight home today and took a nap! Here are a few pictures of our V'day party! It was a HIT thanks to all my wonderful parents! 

First up are pictures of our February family projects...Valentine Boxes. ALL my kids did a wonderful job creating their boxes! Having this activity as my family project takes so much stress off of me!

My fabulous room moms did an amazing job organizing our "Lion Candy Shop" and party food! I was able to walk around and actually enjoy the party because of these amazing moms! Thank you ladies!

Once we were done eating it was time to go through our boxes and look at all the wonderful goodies our classmates had given us!

 
Last but not least...our Valentine's Day craft by the wonderful Miss Kindergarten! The kids did an amazing job following directions and putting this cute craft together! They looked great hanging in our room for the party! My lions love crafts and are so particular about the details! (Girl bears have to have eye lashes!)

Math Centers & Clip Art FREEBIE

Every 2 weeks I create a new math choice board for my kinders to complete. Yes, I said every 2 weeks. Mondays are our introduction days and we always do a math activity together so that leaves 4 more days during our week to do math centers. Here's what their choice board looks like...

Everyday after my students complete their math journal entry, they go up to the Promethean board and move their name to their choice for the day. One of my center rules is that only 4 students can be at each center. By using the Promethean board the kids have a great visual of what is left to sign up for that day. After everyone signs up, I print this flip chart page for my records. (Someone ALWAYS looses their board.) Math centers is a great way to tie in all those activities you have in your room but because of new standards and such you just don't know when to do them. (blocks, puzzles, etc...) 

My TA and I always have a group during this time to help students with their activity. It's nice because we are able to help students one on one because the groups are not leveled. My higher students can work independently while my lower students get the help they need. My math scores have been amazing this year and I give this math center model ALL the credit. I love watching the kids teach and help each other at centers. We've had many classroom meetings about how we tutor each other instead of just giving the answers.  Here are a few pictures of how I organize my room for math centers and  my lions working....(of course they pose for the camera)
